Welcome to my photostream, the vast majority of which is devoted the local history and architecture of Bournemouth and its environs. It contains thousands of albums covering named roads, institutions, buildings, documents and ephemera, and is constantly growing. Another tip, for those less familiar with the workings of Flickr, is the option to restrict your search to photos within only one user's account only. Your search will automatically be confined to that user's photostream. •*´¨`*•.¸¸.•*´¨`*•.¸¸.•*´¨`*•.¸¸.•*´¨`*•.¸¸.• A BIT OF BACKGROUND I'm a fourth generation Bournemouth resident writing a history of Westbourne and Bournemouth West. As well as local history, my interests include ecclesiastical, esoteric, botanical, and rural pursuits, especially in and around the Dorset in which my family has lived for over 800 years. My life memberships (which give a clue to my interests) include the Bournemouth and District Civic Society (Committee Member), National Trust, English Heritage, Folly Fellowship, Victorian Society, Ancient Monuments Society, Friends of Friendless Churches, National Churches Trust, Friends of Winchester Cathedral, Friends of Salisbury Cathedral, Friends of Tewkesbury Abbey, Friends of Glastonbury Abbey, Friends of Christchurch Priory, Friends of Brixworth Church, Friends of the Landmark Trust, Friends of the Bodleian Library, Pugin Society, Ecclesiological Society, Royal Horticultural Society, Campaign to Protect Rural England, Royal Society of St George, National Piers Society, Paddle Steamer Preservation Society, and Dorset County Cricket Club. I also subscribe annually to several other similar organisations. For many years I have been collecting old postcards, photographs, billheads, brochures, guidebooks, curios and other ephemera, that help to illustrate our local history. To assist myself, I decided to use Flickr as a way of organising my collection because many items could come under more than one heading. So I am slowly scanning my collection as well as adding my own photographs. As of August, 2019, I have replaced my aging Epson Perfection V200 scanner with the Epson Perfection V850-Pro scanner. I am not a professional photographer and, in snapping the streets in my locality, I am only providing First Aid - in case those better skilled than I don't get there in time to record them. I use a Sony NEX-5 camera with a SEL-18200 lens for most of my snapshots, but also my Atomic Red BlackBerry Key2 smartphone.
